WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 2, 2020) — The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund has endorsed U.S. Representative Chris Smith of New Jersey for re-election, citing his leadership on wildlife conservation, strengthening access to clean water, and his dedications to investing in coastal resilience.
“Representative Chris Smith understands the essential idea that people and wildlife alike need access to clean water. Through his leadership at the Capitol, Rep. Smith has led efforts to safeguard clean drinking water, protect and restore wildlife habitat, and ensure that coastal communities are resilient to the effects of hurricanes and other severe storms,” said Collin O’Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund. “New Jersey’s 4th Congressional District is fortunate to have such a common-sense conservation champion and wildlife advocate in the U.S. House of Representatives. The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund is proud to endorse Rep. Smith for re-election.”
Smith has represented New Jersey in the House of Representatives since 1981 and is the dean of the state’s congressional delegation. He is a co-sponsor of the bipartisan Recovering America’s Wildlife Act and has introduced numerous conservation bills during his time in Congress, including the Get the Lead Out Act, a bill to replace lead service lines of community water systems.
