The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund has endorsed Rep. Jeff Fortenberry of Nebraska for re-election, citing his work to make agriculture more sustainable and to conserve Nebraska’s wildlife and public lands.
“Nebraskans know there is no better champion for the Cornhusker State’s wildlife, public lands and economy than Rep. Jeff Fortenberry. He has shown bold, bipartisan leadership in introducing and championing the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act — a landmark bill to safeguard our wildlife heritage, support state-led conservation, strengthen America’s economy, and reduce the need for regulatory measures,” said Collin O’Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund. “Rep. Fortenberry also helped both wildlife and the farming and ranching community through his support of sound conservation and land management policy. The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund is proud to endorse Rep. Fortenberry for re-election.”
During his time on the House Agriculture Committee, Rep. Fortenberry has advocated for provisions in the Farm Bill to protect America’s wetlands and prairies as well as the wildlife that depend upon these ecosystems. Rep. Fortenberry is also a long-time supporter of the State and Tribal Wildlife Grants program, administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The program provides federal grants for states to develop and implement programs that benefit wildlife and their habitats, with a priority on at-risk wildlife.
The Action Fund’s sister organization, the National Wildlife Federation, recognized Rep. Fortenberry with its 2015 National Conservation Achievement Legislative Award.
