WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 23, 2020) — Across the country, voters rallied behind and elected champions for wildlife this week. From Michigan to Texas and Delaware to Idaho, voters turned out for candidates the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund endorsed and supported, including a series of conservation and wildlife ballot initiatives.
The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund also heralded the victory by President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris in the race for the White House. The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund was the first national conservation organization to endorse the president-elect in the 2020 election cycle.
“At a time when policymakers and partisans seem unable to agree on anything, voters showed that they want leaders who champion wildlife and conservation issues,” said Karla Raettig, executive director of the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund. “Candidates for public office from the White House to town councils should see in these results — and Action Fund endorsees’ victories — that voters want officials who champion conservation and prioritize recovering wildlife populations, restoring our public lands, and protecting clean water and air, and acting on climate.
“We were proud to be the first national conservation organization to endorse President-elect Joe Biden during the primary, and we’re looking forward to working with him, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, their Administration and all of the wildlife champions elected this week to put Americans back to work recovering wildlife, restoring our public lands and waterways, pursuing environmental and racial justice, and enacting durable, bipartisan wins for the environment.”
