Biden Endorsement is First Presidential Campaign Endorsement for the Action Fund
WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 12, 2020) — The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund has endorsed Vice President Joe Biden in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, citing his proven leadership and commitment to bring the nation and world together to act on climate and confront the escalating wildlife crisis. This primary endorsement is the first of its kind for the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund, which has never before endorsed a presidential candidate in a primary or general election.
“At a time when wildlife and people are facing unprecedented environmental challenges, we need a leader who will bring our nation together to enact bold solutions that confront the climate crisis, recover America’s imperiled wildlife, restore our public lands and waters, and safeguard our outdoor heritage. That leader is Joe Biden,” said Collin O’Mara, chief executive officer of the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund. “Throughout his career, Joe Biden has brought people from all backgrounds together to accomplish big things, from overseeing the largest single investment in clean energy in U.S. history to enacting low-emission vehicle standards — and it’s his style of collaborative, science-based leadership that’s desperately needed to forge durable solutions to the escalating climate and biodiversity crises.
”Vice President Biden knows that climate change is the existential threat of our time and will ensure America leads the world toward net-zero emissions by engaging frontline communities, energy workers, conservationists, manufacturers, farmers, ranchers, miners, forest managers, innovators, and all others at home and abroad to boost clean energy production, reduce emissions on public lands, protect biodiversity, leverage natural climate solutions, and boost the resilience of communities. And the Vice President won’t leave anyone behind — from coal miners to frontline communities suffering from environmental injustices. For all of these reasons, the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund is proud to endorse Joe Biden in the 2020 Democratic primary.”
The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund has a strong track record of supporting candidates on both sides of the aisle who are committed to conservation. Endorsees of the Action Fund won decisively throughout the 2019 election cycle.
