WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 28, 2021) — The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund urged California voters to stand with California Governor Gavin Newsom in the upcoming recall election. The partisan and wasteful recall effort not only targets one of the nation’s wildlife champions, but also threatens to sideline his essential work to recover wildlife, act on climate, and conserve and restore the Golden State’s land and water.
“Governor Newsom is one of America’s greatest wildlife champions and has achieved monumental progress for people and wildlife alike,” said Collin O’Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund. “The challenges we face — from climate-fueled wildfires and drought to America’s wildlife crisis — require serious leaders like Governor Newsom, not partisan gimmicks. The only thing California voters should recall when they vote on September 14 is how Governor Newsom has been an unwavering champion for the Golden State’s wildlife and way of life.”
